'Crane Spotting'
Have been back in Manchester for a while. Was walking home and saw a tower crane tipped over, the end of the crane resting on the other side of the River Medlock to the cabin. I think the ground subsided under the wheels on the left-hand side. The solution? 'More cranes!'. The workers righted the crane with two more cranes. Urban construction efforts were resumed within a few days.
This all happened a few doors down from the building where Engels wrote his paper on the 'Condition of the Working Class in England', 1844. Which has little to do with metaphors of -large construction machines tipping over-, but I think it would have been funny in a 'Monty Python' kind of way if the building old Engels had lived in was squashed by a big yellow Tonka truck.
